Parents

Starting Pre School

We understand that all children are unique and this is a very big step for a small child.

Prior to starting , you and your child will be invited for a visit to familiarise yourselves to the setting and your child’s key person. During this visit, we will discuss with you your child’s likes, dislikes and background to ensure a smooth transition.

We want this to be a happy time for your child so please feel free to stay as long as necessary to settle them (and yourself) in.

Clothing

Children may get messy whilst having fun with us so please dress them in comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. We encourage children to be independent so please bear this in mind when dressing them for ease in going to the toilet, washing their hands and taking off and putting on indoor clothes.

Please put your child’s name in all clothing and footwear including spares.

We recommend trainers or plimsoles as the ideal footwear. Please send sun hats in the warmer seasons and warm waterproof clothing in the wetter and colder months.

We do stock a range of uniform to purchase in both new and used condition – please enquire.

Please let us know if…

  • Your child cannot attend for any reason
  • A different person is collecting your child
  • You will be late collecting your child
  • If your child has any allergies or intolerances
  • There are any changes to your address or contact numbers
  • Your child catches any infectious illnesses e.g chickenpox, hand foot & mouth, german measles, sickness & diarrhoea etc.

Please note that your child cannot attend Pre School if they have been unwell during the previous night even if they seem better in the morning. If they have had sickness or diarrhoea they must wait 48 hours from the last bout before retuning to the setting.

Collecting your Child

Parents are responsible for collecting their children promptly at the end of each Pre School session.

Pre School are required to ensure that each child is collected by someone know to us or authorised by the parent. If we do not recognise the collector then we operate a password system for safety.

Leaving Pre School

Most children will leave Pre School when they move on to their Primary School.

We have close ties with all of our local primary schools and transition visits will be arranged.

If you need to take your child out of Pre School prior to this then we will require at least a half terms notice to enable us to be as effective and we can be.
